Behind The Scenes Blog

Welcome to our Behind the Scenes blog, where you can get a closer look at the magic that happens before the curtain rises. Here we share insider videos, rehearsal moments, and photos that capture the creativity, teamwork, and laughter that go into our productions. It’s a fun peek into the process and the people who bring our shows to life.

St Pete Renaissance Festival

We went to the St. Pete Renaissance Faire. We watched jousting, did a tarot card reading, and got free books. We had a random DC theme going with casual Batgirl, Harley, Ivy, and Catwoman, and obviously the boys were lazy about cosplay that day. It was nice bumping into our buddy Sarah—we love finding friends in the wild.

Our favorite part was watching The Brothers Blackquill do improv and act out Deadpool vs. Little Red Riding Hood. We were happy to say we casually happened to have a Deadpool mask on us to help make that happen. It was definitely a fun day.

Pool Party

After a busy (and hot!) day at the farm, we wrapped up our Easter celebration with a much needed pool party to relax and cool off. We grilled some food, jumped in the pool, listened to music, and of course made sure to hit Dustin with plenty of water balloons 😂… It was the perfect way to unwind after such a successful event!

Barrel Ride

We have to talk about the barrel ride… because Roxie and Dustin may never be the same.

What looked like a fun little ride turned into five solid minutes of absolute chaos and torture, run by a guy who just would not stop talking the entire time. By the end, they stumbled off like they had just survived something truly life-changing (and not in a good way 😂).

Somehow, no one barfed, which honestly feels like the biggest win of the day.

All we can say is… life will never be the same after the barrel ride.

Renaissance Festival

We had such a fun time at the Tampa Bay Renaissance Fair—it really felt like our kind of place. Everyone was dressed up and just fully leaning into the whole “play pretend” thing, and it was so nice being around people who love that as much as we do.

We ate some really good food, had fun drinks, did a little shopping, and it honestly meant a lot when people stopped us to say they liked our costumes. It just made the day feel extra special.

And Roxie won a costume contest! We were absolutely that loud, embarrassing group screaming for her at the top of our lungs—but we were so proud.

We definitely missed some of our people who couldn’t come this time. It wasn’t quite the same without them, so hopefully we can all go together next time.

New Script - New Giggles

Some of our actors were already missing the stage so much that they didn’t want to wait for the next production. So we grabbed the new script and did a quick read-through with a few of the theater crew. Within minutes, we were all cracking up. It reminded us why we love doing this so much.

There’s something special about sitting around with a script, hearing the jokes out loud for the first time, and watching people bring the characters to life. Even without costumes, lights, or a stage, the room was full of laughter.

That’s really what our theater is all about - finding ways to laugh and helping the audience laugh too. The world has enough drama already. For a little while, we just want to give people a place where they can forget about all that and enjoy something fun together.

Too Many Detectives - Backstage

Backstage, you don’t see the show the same way the audience does. Most of the time, all you see are the backs of the actors as they step onto the stage. You stand in the wings, watching from the side, listening to the lines and the laughter from the crowd. After a while, you end up memorizing the whole show with them, just from hearing it over and over.

Stage crew life means always being ready. You might be standing there holding the next costume change so it’s ready the second an actor runs offstage. You help fix a costume, give a quick word of encouragement, or remind someone of their next entrance. It’s busy, sometimes stressful, but everyone works together to make sure the show keeps moving.

Even though the audience doesn’t see you, you feel so proud of the actors. You’ve watched them work hard, practice their lines, and get nervous before going onstage. From backstage, you see how brave they are every night. And while the crowd is cheering in front of the stage, the crew is quietly cheering for them from behind it.

Oh, Baguettes!

The night before the show… and apparently we thrive on adrenaline. Instead of sleeping like sensible people, we were still building and fixing the set until 2 AM. Did we finish everything? Not exactly… but we made some progress, laughed a lot, and taught Dustin that Gorilla tape is the real MVP. Goodbye, princes with baguettes… and hello to the random extra tires nobody asked for.
